Find out which states have the most community solar capacity, and which states are falling behind, in the DG+ State Community Solar Capacity Map.
Community solar, sometimes called “shared solar,” allows residential and commercial utility customers to subscribe to output from a local solar facility. The District of Columbia and 22 states currently have policies in place to support community solar programs, which provide renewable energy to those without the land area, infrastructure, or money to install their own solar panels. Some states, like Florida, Minnesota, and New York have large community solar capacities, thanks to strong policy programs.
