Across the country, regional climate weeks act as mirrors, reflecting how different communities and economies engage with climate change. Geography, industry, politics, and culture all shape the conversation, and that diversity shows up in the events themselves. Each climate week reflects the priorities, pressures, and possibilities of the place it calls home.

While some of these decentralized gatherings are officially organized, many are grassroots and community-built. Collectively, they shape what gets prioritized and how solutions take form.

Here’s how each one plays its role in the broader climate narrative.

Climate Week NYC

2026 dates: September 20–27, 2026

Location: New York, NY

TLDR: Big. Global. Corporate. Agenda-setting.

If all the climate weeks had a headquarters, it would be in New York. As the most established and internationally recognized U.S. climate week, its focus is broad. From policy and finance to corporate sustainability, this event shines in its tendency to draw high-level leadership and global corporations, serving as a key venue for major announcements and media coverage.

Role in the national narrative: Sets the agenda.

LA Climate Week

2026 dates: April 8–15, 2026

Location: Los Angeles, CA

TLDR: Justice-centered. Community-driven. Local impact.

This event brings climate down to the human scale.

Also a mainstay on the climate week roster, Los Angeles Climate Week emphasizes climate justice. Conversations center on the challenges faced by marginalized groups and region-specific issues like heat, air quality, wildfire risk, and infrastructure inequities. The city’s diverse population and strong activism culture make it approachable for climate professionals, community leaders, and anyone curious about climate solutions.

Role in the national narrative: Keeps equity at the center.

DC Climate Week

2026 dates: April 20–26, 2026

Location: Washington, D.C.

TLDR: Policy-dense. Regulation-driven.

In D.C., governance is a permanent part of the climate conversation.

Federal agencies, lawmakers, advocacy groups, and think tanks dominate the conversation (the conversation being regulatory frameworks, legislation, public funding, and national strategy). That said, still expect plenty of fun — this year the DC Climate Week event lineup includes experiences like restaurant specials, art exhibits, and pop up shops.

Role in the national narrative: Writes the rule book.

Miami Climate Week

2026 dates: March 14–21, 2026

Location: Miami, FL

TLDR: Coastal resilience. Adaptability. Frontline urgency.

“The seas are rising. It’s getting hotter. Let’s do something.”

That framing captures Miami’s posture: pragmatic, urgent, and solutions-oriented.

Miami’s climate week is emerging as a hub for conversations around coastal resilience, climate adaptation, and the physical risks facing subtropical regions. Programming frequently centers on sea level rise, water pollution, extreme heat, flooding, resilient infrastructure, insurance markets, urban planning, and community preparedness. Unlike finance- or national policy-heavy climate weeks, Miami’s lens is economic, infrastructural, and immediate. Municipal budgets, public health systems, and long-term city planning are all part of the conversation.

Role in the national narrative: Addresses risk head-on.

TechChicago Week

2026 dates: July 20–26, 2026

Location: Chicago, IL

TLDR: Midwestern. Solutions-oriented. Pragmatic.

While not officially a climate week, TechChicago Week consistently touches on climate-relevant topics for the Midwest economy.

TechChicago Week reflects the city’s industrial backbone and Midwest sensibility. While broader in scope than climate alone, programming frequently touches manufacturing innovation, energy efficiency, grid modernization, hard tech, and the regional economic implications of the energy transition. Chicago’s climate conversation looks different from coastal counterparts, emphasizing technology’s use in operational transformation — decarbonizing manufacturing, strengthening supply chains, modernizing infrastructure, and ensuring the transition works for legacy industries and labor markets.

Role in the national narrative: Connecting technology to industry.

Houston Energy & Climate Week

2026 dates: September 13–18, 2026

Location: Houston, TX

TLDR: Realism. Tradition meets transition.

The energy conversation feels more personal in Houston.

As the historic heart of the U.S. oil and gas industry, Houston occupies a uniquely consequential position in the climate landscape. Convening legacy energy operators, utilities, startups, investors, policymakers, and researchers, Houston Energy & Climate Week explores how existing energy systems can evolve towards lower-carbon solutions. Expect conversations on hydrogen, carbon capture and management, grid infrastructure, industrial decarbonization, methane mitigation, and large-scale pilot projects, and the project finance structures required to deploy them.

Role in the national narrative: Navigates legacy systems.

San Diego Climate Week

2026 dates: October 1–8, 2026

Location: San Diego, CA

TLDR: Community-powered. Inclusive. Local action-oriented.

San Diego communities have long borne a disproportionate share of environmental harm — coastal erosion, intensifying heat waves, poor air quality, and wildfires. San Diego Climate Week is the region's annual convergence for the people working to change that: local policymakers, researchers, grassroots organizers, educators, and residents who don't typically end up in the same room. Frontline community voices shape the agenda: what can we actually do here, in this region, with the people and resources we have?

Role in the climate conversation: Inspires individual and community action.

PNW Climate Week

2026 dates: July 13–19, 2026

Location: Vancouver, BC; Bellingham, WA; Seattle, WA; Tacoma, WA; Portland, OR; Bend, OR

TLDR: Regional resilience. Collaboration. Systems-thinking.

PNW Climate Week connects climate-curious people and organizations across six cities spanning two countries. Rather than centering on a single city, this event highlights the idea of the Pacific Northwest as a cohesive region with shared environmental and economic interests. Events and discussions reflect the PNW’s collaborative ethos, drawing participants from civic groups, local governments, community organizations, and climate advocates across both Canada and the U.S. Programming can vary by year and city, but the overarching intent is to strengthen connections and visibility for climate work happening throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Role in the national narrative: Raise the profile of regional, cross-border climate coordination.
