DG+Design is excited to welcome Jordan Griffin to the team as a marketing associate. Jordan will contribute to developing marketing and content strategies for clients in the cleantech industry and deliver high-quality, creative output through blogs, white papers, press releases, and more. He currently lives in Columbia, Maryland.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Oh, where to begin? First and foremost, I’m one of four boys, and we’re all about 18 months apart, so our house was in a constant state of chaos growing up. To add to the pandemonium, I grew up 20 minutes from my cousins, another family of four boys, and we would have family dinner there every Sunday. So it’s safe to say family is most important to me.

Sports were also a significant aspect of my life growing up. I still love sports, although my passion now is expressed mainly through watching rather than playing. I am a massive fan of the Washington Commanders, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. I love spending time outside, usually on weekly hikes in the nature preserve behind my house. I am also an avid fiction reader — some people close to me call it an obsession, but I don’t.

I went to Towson University in Towson, Maryland, earning my degree in advertising and public relations. My professional background is in all forms of content. I started in organic social media and moved into various other forms of content. In 2019, I shifted my focus to longer-form content such as blogs, white papers, and ebooks. I love writing and making complex ideas more easily digestible for the average reader. I earned a certification of completion in the summer of 2023 after completing a 15-week UX/UI design boot camp.

Why did you choose to work at DG+?

My love for the environment began in my formative years. I just remember always being outside when I was growing up. Whether it was my dad taking my brothers and me trekking through forests, wading up rivers, or riding bikes around the neighborhood, we were constantly participating in adventures in the great outdoors.

My first full-time content writing job was when I could put my passive interest in sustainability into action. I was writing content about sustainable urban travel, public transportation, and employers' roles in helping their employees adopt alternative ways of commuting. That is when I realized there was a possibility and responsibility for everyone to do their part in limiting their environmental impact.

Previously, I worked for a startup as a product designer with a company building a marketplace connecting renewable energy developers and corporations working toward their sustainability goals. Then, I saw this job at DG+. I applied immediately because it was the perfect opportunity to marry my marketing background and new knowledge of sustainability and renewable energy in one position.

What do you hope to learn at DG+?

I don't want to say everything, but EVERYTHING! Going through the interview process, I asked everyone I met with, "Is there a favorite project you have worked on at DG+?” Each member of the DG+ team answered with a different project in a different sector of sustainability, which was so cool to hear. I want to accumulate as much knowledge as possible in the whole gamut of sustainability categories.

How do you hope to have an impact at DG+?

My impact is bringing aspects of my past experiences to the work we do for our clients. I have skills and knowledge that fit into DG+, and I will do my best to hit the ground running since I’m familiar with several industries in which DG+ clients work.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

Most recently, it's golfing — even with all of the frustrations experienced by someone of my *sub-par* abilities. I am just as happy relaxing with a book, anything from Harry Potter to Stephen King.

What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?

I really enjoy collecting, with my main obsessions being watches and books. I have amassed more than 50 limited edition, special edition, and collaboration watches. My watch-collecting endeavors have been going on for the better part of a decade.

Book collecting is a newer hobby, having only started in the last year or so. The current focus of my collecting efforts is on first-edition and book club edition Stephen King books – but not exclusively. I am particularly excited about two recent finds: a book club edition of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck from 1939 and a first printing of In Cold Blood by Truman Capote from 1965.

Tell us something fun or maybe unexpected about yourself…

I love making art! I’ve mostly painted, but I took several art classes in college, including drawing, printmaking, and sculpting — unfortunately, none of which have continued. I still plan to get back into art (eventually).
